I’ve been an artist all of my life starting my artistic adventures in music from the age of 5, oil painting at age 14, majoring in music in college and going back to the visual arts concentrating on ceramics.  My one-of-a-kind ceramic designs caught the attention of a director at the Houston Museum of Fine Arts in 1986.  I was honored to be selected to exhibit my work in the museum to reflect modern day mosaics along with the ancient mosaics of Pompeii.  Later when slinging heavy clay took a toll on my back, I was looking for an artistic outlet and adventure. Having always been a stone collector, designing necklaces with beautiful stones was not a stretch.  Finding the right clasps or chains to set off these stones was a stretch.  I wanted to design my own clasps and chains and took a metalsmithing workshop with an accomplished jewelry artist.  It was hook, line, and sinker (as we say in Texas) from that moment on.  I took several more metalsmithing workshops with successful jewelry artists over the last few years and I achieved PMC Certification through Rio Grande’s program in 2010 with Barbara Becker Simon.  Nothing gives me more artistic satisfaction than designing and working with metal, especially silver.  I love every aspect of it.

For those of you interested in learning basic metalsmithing, soldering and stone setting,  I schedule lessons by appointment. Please contact me by clicking on the "Contact" button above for more information.
